Founded in Milwaukee in 1992, American Heritage Fireplace is a fireplace company serving Chicago and the Greater Milwaukee Area (including Waukesha County). Owner-led since day one, founders John Dunlevy and Jim Sako expanded operations to Chicago in 1994 and remain actively involved in daily operations.
From design to installation, we deliver end-to-end solutions for all your fireplace needs. In addition, our service department keeps units clean, safe, and performing well for years.
In Chicago, we operate a state-of-the-art 21,000 sq ft facility with a showroom, offices, and warehouse. Meanwhile, our Milwaukee, location offers 6,500 sq ft with a full showroom, offices, an outdoor display area, and warehouse.
Our residential division serves homeowners across the Midwest—from local neighborhoods to prestigious residences. Highlights include the historical restoration of a fireplace in an early Frank Lloyd Wright home. We also supplied and installed hearth products in what was, at the time, Chicago’s most expensive home.
Beyond residential work, we support prominent developments. Projects include the Tribune Tower condo conversion, Trump Tower, and the Waldorf Astoria. In addition, we’ve partnered with leading universities, including Northwestern University, University of Wisconsin–Madison, University of Chicago, and University of Notre Dame.
Experience sets us apart. More than 30+ specialists, support our work, and many have been with AHF for 20+ years. Altogether, that represents over 400 combined years in the hearth industry.
We maintain our edge through ongoing technical training. Moreover, we curate innovative, reliable products to match each project. As a result, whether you choose a gas insert, a wood-burning centerpiece, or an outdoor solution, our team ensures a clean, code-compliant install
and long-term support.
